This lovely sign was designed as part of a challenge in 2009; the theme was Harvest. The cornucopia represents the bountiful harvest of the year, while the simple words atop it remind us to Give Thanks for the fruits of our labors, harvesting the rewards of our hard work. A simple sentiment that stretches beyond faiths and beyond seasons.
I've burnt this saying and image by hand onto a 1/4" thick piece of craft wood, 12" by 9" rectangle with rounded edges. No stamps were used, not for the words or the design. For a bit of extra "oomph" to the sign, I used watercolors (oranges, yellows and greens) to bring the cornucopia and fruit to life.
Artist name and year were burned on the back, as shown.
After a light sanding, I sprayed a couple coats of a clear acrylic sealant on it for lasting beauty and ease of care. I then added a sawtooth picture hanger on the back, so it can be hung on the wall with the rest of your prized memories. If you don't have the wall space, though, feel free to stand it up in a miniature easel.
